About Me

About Me:

I'm currently working as a teacher at SAM Academy, a school for missionary kids in Peru. How did that come about? I graduated from college with a degree to teach 7-12 grades English (Literature/Language Arts). As I studied in college, I didn't feel convinced I'd use my teaching degree to teach at a traditional school like what we have in the US, but I didn't know where I'd teach. Looking back, God prepared my heart to serve Him by coming to Peru to teach in many ways!

I love discipleship and wanted to teach in a place that valued that and enabled it in its atmosphere and approach to learning. After visiting Peru on short-term teams with my church about 4 summers in a row, I learned about SAM Academy. The crazy thing is that at the time the school did not appeal to me. I wasn't looking to relocate internationally. As you can guess, that changed, and here I am in Peru. After some time of looking at different schools and praying about where to go, I ended up going to Peru to teach, and it's been a wonderful experience so far!

The longer I'm here, more doors open for discipleship and involvement. I'm excited to see where God leads SAM as a whole mission and what doors He opens for my involvement with them!
